Did you miss seeing the premiere of Harpodeon’s new reconstruction of Black Beauty at this year’s Maine Silent Film Festival? See it again this November at the Playhouse at Waterville Station with live musical accompaniment by Doug Protsik!
This special showing of the 1921 silent classic, Black Beauty, is a new Harpodeon reconstruction of the film. More than half of Black Beauty is believed to be lost, with only three of seven reels surviving. Harpodeon has taken those reels and combined them with footage from a show-at-home abridgment and a few stills to re-create Black Beauty substantially as it may have been seen when it premiered in 1921.
